The charm of Downtown Charleston comes at a cost - impacting everything housing, dining, and groceries. Is the city becoming unaffordable?

The cost of living in Charleston continues to rise, impacting students and residents alike.

College of Charleston junior Aiden McCully says his monthly expenses add up quickly.

"Probably about $1250, but on top of that with parking and water and everything, probably like $1700," he said.

With rent prices spiking and the city's cost of living 8% higher than the national average, many students are feeling the impact.

Yet, for some, the price is worth it to live in a beautiful coastal city.
